Getting started

Sign in, pick your shop, and find your way around.

This is the short version of how PrintDB works: how to sign in, how to choose which shop you are working in, and where to find things once you are inside.

If you only read one page first, read this one.

Signing in

There are two ways to sign in, depending on who you are.

Account owner
The person who owns the PrintDB account. An owner can run more than one shop.
Employee
A team member who signs in to one shop and can do whatever their role allows.

Sign in on the login page. If you are an employee, use the employee login for your shop. Creating an account and resetting a password are handled on the PrintDB website, not inside the app.

Choosing your shop

If your account has more than one shop, you choose which one you are working in right after you sign in. Everything you see is tied to that shop, so make sure the right one is selected. You can switch shops at any time from the account menu.

Finding your way around

  • The sidebar on the left is your main menu. It is grouped by area: inventory, sales, design, production, billing, and so on. You only see the areas your role and plan include.
  • Quick search lets you jump straight to any page or record. Press Cmd+K (or Ctrl+K) and start typing.
  • Notifications show up on the bell in the sidebar. Open it to see what needs your attention.
  • Themes let you switch between five looks, including a colorblind-friendly one. Change yours in Profile settings and it is remembered.
  • The desktop app adds hardware: a USB scale for weighing ink and a label printer for barcodes. The web app and desktop app share the same data.

Sign in and pick your shop

  1. 1Open PrintDB and sign in. Employees use their shop's employee login.
  2. 2If you are asked, choose the shop you are working in.
  3. 3You land on the dashboard for that shop.

Jump to any page quickly

  1. 1Press Cmd+K (or Ctrl+K).
  2. 2Start typing a page or record name and select it.

Change your theme

  1. 1Open your Profile settings.
  2. 2Pick a theme. It applies right away and is saved for next time.
